Melbourne’s unique city venue has just transformed itself into two different venue spaces! The Alfred, just off Collins St in Melbourne’s CBD, was previously the esteemed Stokehouse whilst it was being rebuilt in St Kilda. Now Fratelli Fresh and The Cut have moved in over the two floors. A heritage building that is rich in culinary credentials and old stone fireplaces, the choice between two different restaurants is priceless in Melbourne! Fratelli Fresh is the first in Melbourne and has siblings all over Sydney. Taking over the ground floor, the restaurant features a light-filled, laid-back dining room with red and white décor. Featuring its custom made, signature mosaic tiles and state-of-the-art wood-fired pizza ovens, the interior is that of relaxed family fun! Traditional Italian cuisine is on the menu with hearty pastas, mouth-watering pizzas and richly infused risottos. They also offer breakfast from 7am for those early morning diners, with freshly ground coffee, breakfast bruschetta’s and truffled eggs. Get there in time for Aperitivo hour, 3-6pm, where wine, beer and spirits are $5 and Spritzers and Negroni are $10. The perfect complement to your meal!
Make your way up the grand staircase to The Cut, an elegant New York style steakhouse. The opposite in interiors, The Cut features high ceilings, dark timber finishes and plush leather seating that match the black and white marble tiled floors. Check out the dry aging room which is visible from an all-glass internal wall and choose from 10 cuts of beef from some of the top-tier farms around Australia, some of the meats have been dry aged for up to 200 days! You’ll understand why they say it is one of the biggest and most impressive dry rooms in Melbourne! The adjoining bar, The Library, is just as impressive as it boasts 300 wines, over 80 of the finest whiskies and craft and bottled beers. The Alfred is the best venue for large or small scale events. Combined, the restaurants are able to accommodate for 800 guests, cocktail style. Or alternatively the ground floor caters for 400 guests (including the outdoor laneway), and the first floor caters for 350. For smaller scale events, the individual restaurants are able to accommodate for smaller numbers such as 80 banquet style or 60 in The Library.
