We all know that the typical definition of a meeting or conference with a magnitude of speakers can get a little dry. No matter how interesting the topic of the speakers, at some point our attention span starts to wane. However, there are a number of ways you can stimulate participation from your audience that still focusing them on the topic. Hotels and most venues will often have a state-of-the-art technology package that is either included or can be bundled on to your standard package. This includes technology for presentations, live performances and mobile phone use that allows your audience to connect with you and your team through another platform. Presentation and visuals are a great way to give your audience a reference point to what you are talking about. They provide background content and interactive media that your audience will, unfortunately, retain more than your audio stimuli. The remedy for this is recording your lecture before or during the presentation and providing it as a reference for later use.
As technology develops, so do the options we have for presenting and performing our messages. Many events are now using live performers as a way of teaching their audience the message they are trying to convey. Whether this through sit down performance at a dinner or solitary stand ups at a cocktail party. Think of the street performers you always see in the city. Everyone stops to look and engages in what they are doing and why they are doing it. These performers can be situated around your event relying short messages to ‘passer-bys’ or acting out scenarios you are trying to teach your team. There are also a number of Smartphone apps that we referred to in our last newsletter, that can be used to engage with your audience. They include customised apps that store information about the event and the people speaking. Apps that link to photobooths so that your delegates have something to take away with them are only two of the kinds of apps you can enlist. To see the apps we are referring to, head to the post! Gone are the days when conferences and events contained only speakers. Now companies are hiring experts who can help them engage their audience through not only audio, but technology that forces the message to be remembered and thought upon at a later date.
