The Hydro Majestic, Blue Mountains

The Hydro Majestic, Blue Mountains, NSW

As one of the most famous historic hotels in Australia, stepping into the Hydro Majestic Hotel, surrounded by its art deco features and décor is like stepping into history. Roughly ninety minutes’ drive from Sydney, the hotel stretches out over a kilometre along the escarpment with views over Megalong Valley.
Following an extensive six-year renovation, the property offers 58 art deco inspired rooms and suites as well as a wide variety of gorgeous function spaces and dining options.
“We have ten dining outlets across the group, from casual bistro to hatted fine dining, and feature the best regional foods and wines,” says group operations manager Adam Holmes.

Guests can access the Casino lobby, Wintergarden Restaurant, Salon du The and Cats Alley, Boiler House Café and Hydro Majestic Pavilion history museum and retail area during their stay.
The Casino Lobby and luxurious Wintergarden set the tone of elegance for guests entering the hotel under the famous dome and the stylish Delmonte conference and dining rooms are available for up to 50 people. The Boiler House Café and bistro is great for casual dining, while the famous Shanghai chic Salon Du The and sumptuous Cat’s Alley bar/gin palace offer decadent spaces for jazz and martinis at sunset.

One of the grandest ballrooms in Australia, the Majestic Ballroom boasts vaulted ceilings, open fireplaces and the glamour of yesteryear for formal events.

Also new is the Majestic Point Lookout, picnic and market grounds, providing public access to the best views of the Megalong Valley, perfect for picnics, markets, wine fairs and music.

What makes The Hydro Majestic Blue Mountains so special?

“The Hydro Majestic is one of those rare hotels that is a true global icon,” says guest services manager Megan Iervasi. “In a way, it belongs to the people of Australia because everyone from everyday people to celebrities and prime ministers has a story to tell about staying here.’’

The Hydro Majestic has hosted many events such as opera festivals, Roaring 20s Festival events, classical and popular music performances which have re-launched original owner Mark Foy’s ‘Palace in the Wilderness’’ as the place to be for arts and entertainment in the Blue Mountains.

“The Hydro was one of the original grand hotels in Australia’s first tourist destination, the Blue Mountains, so we had an obligation to deliver an authentic interpretation of Mark Foy’s vision, not just another nice but characterless hotel,’’ Iervasi said.

Foy was a visionary, an ambitious and remarkable one, creating the hotel on a mountain top against all odds. Soon the fortunate, the famous, the fabulous, even the infamous, flocked to the Hydro Majestic from around the globe.

Comprising of two function rooms, The Delmonte conference rooms’ offer spectacular views and, along with the Delmonte Lobby, they cater for a more intimate style of conference and special events. Each function room can cater for 40 guests for a seated dinner or 70 guests for a cocktail style event.
The jewel in the crown, the Majestic Ballroom is a magnificent domed space with vaulted ceilings, open fireplace and an enormous amount of character. Totalling approximately 380 sqm, it also includes a courtyard garden and it perfect for up to 250 guests for a seated dinner or 400 guests for a cocktail style event.
